Baroka fought back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Orlando Pirates at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Saturday afternoon, reports DYLAN APPOLIS.

Bakgaga came into this game having yet to register a win at home in the league and played out to a goalless draw with Chippa United in their previous league encounter.

The Buccaneers, meanwhile, ended their two-game winless run in the league following their 3-2 victory over Polokwane City 10 days ago.

The match got off to a good start with both teams looking lively in the opening exchanges.

Elvis Chipezeze was called into action in the 15th minute when he produced a good save to keep out Vincent Luke’s free kick.

The visitors continued to dominate possession after 25 minutes but were unable to break down Baroka’s defence.

Ben Motshwari had a chance to open the scoring for his side in the 37th minute but blazed his effort off-target with a right-footed shot.

Pirates eventually broke the deadlock a minute later when Linda Mntambo fired the ball past Chipezeze from the edge of the box.

Baroka had a chance of their own with four minutes to play but Matome Mabeba fired his effort straight into the hands of Wayne Sandilands.

Goodman Mosele should’ve have levelled matters in stoppage time, but drove his strike high and wide of target.

The Buccaneers went into the half-time break with a one-goal lead over Bakgaga.

Rhulani Mokwena was forced into making an early change in the second half when Kabelo Dlamini came on to replace the injured Ntsikelelo Nyauza.

Pirates then doubled their lead five minutes later when Dlamini found the back of the net with a superb strike to make it 2-0.

Vincent Pule should have extended Pirates lead even further after 72 minutes of play but the Pirates attacker sent his effort well wide of the target.

Mokwena made his second change of the game five minutes later when Tshegofatso Mabaso came on to replace Gabadinho Mhango.

Baroka managed to pull a goal back in the 81st minute when Pirates captain Happy Jele put the ball into his own net.

The home side managed to level matters eight minutes later when Gerald Phiri Jnr found the back of the net with a well-taken finish.

Neither side were able to find the winning goal in the closing stages of the game and so shared the spoils at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
