Orlando Pirates midfielder Vincent Pule looks to be out for a lengthy spell after suffering an injury against Green Eagles in last weekend’s Caf Champions League clash.
Pirates caretaker coach Rhulani Mokwena has endured a difficult time at the club since the departure of Milutin Sredojevic.
Pirates have gone on a six-game winless streak to exit the Champions League, MTN8 and sit in 10th place on the Absa Premiership log.
Speaking after the midweek 0-0 draw with Golden Arrows, Mokwena revealed why he had made so many changes for the clash.
‘The five changes were a difficult because Vincent Pule is out – you could see him on crutches, so that was a forced change,’ explained Mokwena.
‘Two more changes were forced in a way – not injury induced but forced [based on] performance. The other two were in relation to how we wanted to play.
‘We wanted to play a different way, with a different structure, and I think you saw that we played very different to how we’ve ever played before, because we were playing against a very awkward team with an awkward shape.
‘So, we had to have a balanced team that could, one, look after the ball better; two, could also exploit certain areas that we had identified through our analysis.’
