Sundowns vs Golden Arrows

Pitso Mosimane hailed Mamelodi Sundowns’ display in the 1-0 win against Golden Arrows, while highlighting the impacts of new signings Lebogang Maboe, Phakamni Mahlambi and Toni Silva.

Maboe’s lone strike at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Wednesday night ensured that Masandawana got back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory against Arrows, however Mosimane says it was by no means an easy game for his charges, who he praised for their character.

‘It was a difficult game,’ Mosimane told SuperSport TV.

‘The conditions the wind was strong. We showed character. We survived the heat. So, we sometimes don’t have to play pretty football to win. Yeah, we had it, we wanted it.

‘They never hurt us, but we also we tried to hurt the. Four goals in two games, four points is good. Three clean sheets out of five games, it is not bad. It can be better, but it is OK. You can’t get everything. It is one step at a time. So, you survive,’ he added.

After being booted out of the MTN8 and Caf Champions League cups respectively, Mosimane said he is delighted that some of the new acquisitions have managed to find the back of the net.

‘They showed character today, and the last game they scored three goals and they never gave up. They showed character in the last game, because we had to fight for it in the end with Vila [Sibusiso Vilakazi] scoring in the end. And I am happy that the new boys are starting to score.

‘Lebo [Maboe] scored today, Toni Silva has scored, Phaka [Mahlambi] has scored. So, it is good, it is promising,” he said.

‘Again, it is not as rosy as we want it, we all know, but you know when you don’t have Mshishi (Themba Zwane) on the pitch, when you don’t have Gaston (Sirino) on the pitch but you can still win when you don’t have pretty football sometimes,’ he concluded.
