Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane
Pitso Mosimane was delighted Mamelodi Sundowns returned home with all three points against Black Leopards, where he warned it would be a tough fixture.
The Brazilians remained the only unbeaten team in the Absa Premiership after claiming a 2-1 victory over Black Leopards at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Sundowns moved up third place in the league table after collecting 14 points from six games, having won four and drawn two games so far this season.
‘It’s an away win and it’s important for us to win away from home. We are behind with the games and we need to catch up with the games in hand because we always say the games in hand are not games won. Once you win them, it makes you feel better,’ Mosimane told his club’s official website.
The coach was not too worried that they allowed Leopards back in, but praised the players for getting the job done when it mattered the most.
“It would have been nice to keep a clean sheet, but sometimes you don’t have to worry more about keeping clean sheet than winning a match. You can play a goalless draw for 30 games and then you get relegated with clean sheets. So you need to score more than the opponent, that’s how you win a match,” Mosimane said.
He insisted, however, that clean sheet are still important and Sundowns should aim to try and keep it tidy at the back.
However, Mosimane insisted that clean sheets are just as important as scoring goals and that Sundowns should try and be more solid at the back.
“But it does not mean clean sheets are not important. They are for goal difference and goal average and all that. We had clear chances and we should have passed the ball in the net to get more. But it’s okay, when you win you won’t be too harsh,” added the coach.
