Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane was full of praise for his players after their performance against Black Leopards on Tuesday evening.
The Brazilians moved level on points with Orlando Pirates at the top of the Absa Premiership standings after their 2-1 victory over Leopards at the Thohoyandou Stadium.
Mosimane emphasised that he was pleased with his side’s ability to managed the game following their busy fixture schedules in the PSL and Caf Champions League.
He stressed the importance of resting his key players for their upcoming Champions League semi-final second leg against Wydad Casablanca.
‘These boys are unbelievable, because if you look at the programme we have and then compare with how the players performed today, it’s unbelievable,’ Mosimane told his club’s official website.
‘From Rabat [Morocco] to Thohoyandou and only get one-and-a-half day rest, I really have to give the respect to my player, I take my hat off to them.
‘No one has a programme like Mamelodi Sundowns in the country, hence we always play against well rested teams. That’s why Black Leopards were quicker than us, faster and winning the second balls because we didn’t have the freshness and the legs to match them in their game.
‘We had to manage the game and the legs, especially in the second half, and you can also see from the substitutions we made, we had to rest some players like Hlompho Kekana, Themba Zwane and Gaston Sirino, because we need them again in the Caf Champions League match against Wydad.’
