Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says midfielder Sammy Seabi will not be a regular as he was signed for ‘a specific reason’.
The 24-year-old joined Sundowns from Polokwane City last weekend after playing a big role in helping Rise and Shine secure a fifth-place finish in the Absa Premiership last season.
Seabi became the club’s third-new signing after capturing the services of right back Nyiko Mobbie and striker Mauricio Affonso, respectively.
Mosimane revealed that Seabi won’t get regular game time but will be utilised for his height to their advantage in the Caf Champions League.
‘I don’t want him to do too many things. I want him to get the ball and pass here, get the ball give it to Vila [Sibusiso Vilakazi] or to Mshishi [Themba Zwane]. That’s all,’ Mosimane coach told the media.
‘And on set pieces he can help me because he’s got the height and he scores goals with his head. I told him that he might not play much, not a lot of games. We brought him for a specific reason. There are games that he is not going to play.’
However, Seabi has not been registered in Sundowns’ Caf Champions League squad as they acquired his services too late, but Mosimane confirmed that he will be registered for the group stages of the African tournament.
