Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has urged his side to keep their Absa Premiership title hopes alive as they continue to chase log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
The Brazilians closed the gap on Amakhosi after securing a 2-1 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The win saw Sundowns moved back up to second place in the league standings with 41 points and are now four points behind Chiefs after 20 matches played so far this season.
Mosimane urged his side to keep the league exciting by continuing to put pressure on Ernst Middendorp’s side as he does not want the league to be won in the same manner Liverpool are winning the Premier League title.
‘We are all aware of the four points but we are in a position that you can’t lose a game. You lose, you are finished. The league is gone. We have to keep the league alive,’ Mosimane told the media.
‘I hope everybody keeps it alive. So let the league be exciting. Let everybody sit at the edge of their seats. Let’s see what’s going to happen. I hope everybody keeps it exciting.
‘Don’t you think so? Don’t you want it to be exciting or do you want what Liverpool [is doing] and that’s finished? We don’t want that.’
Mamelodi Sundowns will now turn their attention to the Nedbank Cup clash against Vall University on Sunday, with kick-off set for 3pm.
