A legal crisis could be unfolding at the PSL after the organisation’s head of legal, Michael Murphy, reportedly resigned to join PSL prosecutor Nande Becker in leaving the organisation.

According to multiple reports, Murphy has decided to exit after Becker, resigning with immediate effect to leave the league’s legal department in a precarious position.

With the league still needing to handle several pending disciplinary cases against numerous high-profile clubs and individuals, it now faces some crisis. New personnel have to be recuited to ensure the disciplinary cases don’t drag on to have devastating effects at the back end of the season as was the case last year with the Sekhuhune and Royal AM debacle.

The PSL also faces serious concerns after Chiefs requested the postponement of the league due to a Covid-19 crisis in their camp.

The news comes just over 24 hours after PSL prosecutor Nande Becker handed in his resignation.

Becker had been with the league for approximately eight years. His abrupt departure is now also pointing towards a possible greater issue within the PSL hierarchy.
