Vincent Pule admits that he is living his dream after making an excellent start to life with Orlando Pirates after joining from Bidvest Wits in the off-season.
The 26-year-old has hit the ground running since arriving from the Clever Boys, netting two goals and starting in eight of the nine games played by the Sea Robbers in all competitions.
Pirates’ most recent clash saw them race into a two-goal lead in the first half against Cape Town City, but an Ayanda Patosi brace saw the Buccaneers claw their way back into the game.
‘I think it’s overwhelming since I came here to Pirates,’ he said in post-match comments.
‘I have been getting the support from everyone, the coaches and players. I think it’s something special for me. As you have seen, I have been playing like I think every game and it’s something special for me considering where I’m coming from.
‘The season we won the league at Wits, I did not play that much, but last season I did play and this season I have played in almost every game.
‘I think the game model is different. At Wits, mostly you play on second balls, but at Pirates, we build from the back and I think it’s something that has changed my game.
‘The coach has told us, the attacking players, to have movement when the likes of Xola Mlambo, Ben Motshwari and Musa Nyatama have the ball because they are capable of giving you those passes. We have the freedom to move,’ he concluded.
Pule’s performances for Pirates this season have already earned him a Bafana Bafana call-up, when he made his debut in the 0-0 draw against a resilient Libya side in Bafana’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie.
