Cape Town City midfielder Roland Putsche believes the arrival of Tokelo Rantie adds to City’s unpredictability in offensive areas.

The Citizens confirmed the capture of the former Bafana Bafana striker on transfer deadline day on a free transfer after he parted ways with Turkish outfit Genclerbirligi in January 2018.

Rantie, who played for Orlando Pirates before spells with Malmo in Sweden and Bournemouth in England, will add extra quality to McCarthy’s forward options which already includes the likes of Matthew Rusike and Siphelele Mthembu.

Putsche has admitted that Rantie’s arrival will add competition for places which is good for the squad.

‘I think he makes us even more unpredictable, as we have more options in offence now, and I think we’re now an even stronger side.

‘For me, competition is one of the biggest topics – as soon as people feel too confident in their position and don’t feel pressure from anyone else in the team, they often drop the bar, which is a big problem.

‘Now we have [Matthew] Rusike, ‘Shaka’ [Siphelele Mthembu] and Tokelo, so there’s so many options that we have, which makes us unpredictable and will lift the other players as well,’ concluded the Austrian midfielder.
