Tokelo Rantie has reportedly been training with Mamelodi Sundowns as he looks to earn himself another shot at redemption.
The forward left Cape Town City under a cloud three months ago, with the club citing personal issues as the reason behind their decision to terminate his contract.
The former Bournemouth striker hasn’t played since October 2017. His career stalled after a self-imposed footballing exile since walking out on Turkish club Genclerbirligi, which was followed by an unsuccessful spell in Cape Town.
According to a report by TimesLive, Rantie now may have another chance at resurrecting his career in the PSL.
Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is apparently interested in attempting to pull Rantie back, but may have an uphill battle on his hand, one which Benni McCarthy could not win.
Rantie’s fitness has reportedly been seriously affected by off-field problems, as he is said to have failed to make the diet and fitness regimen imposed by City work.
If Mosimane can pull the forward back, he will surely have a top-class forward at his disposal.
