Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has confirmed that striker Tokelo Rantie is set to make his debut against Kaizer Chiefs.
The Brazilians will take on Amakhosi in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
Rantie signed for Sundowns after he was released by Cape Town City three months into his deal with the Citizens.
However, the former Bournemouth striker spent nine months on the sidelines and will have the opportunity to get minutes against Chiefs.
‘Ja, we’ll give him a chance, he must play. Tomorrow [Saturday] he’ll get a chance to play; I don’t know if he’ll start but he’ll play – 100%,’ Mosimane told the media.
Mosimane will be without the services of Keletso Makgalwa, Soumahoro Bangaly, Emiliano Tade and Lucky Mohomi, who continue to mend their way back to full fitness.
‘We have Keletso, Bangaly, Emiliano, Lucky Mohomi – ay, Lucky! When are you [going to play?] If you don’t play Shell Helix … Hey? “No game time” – be on the pitch,’ he added.
‘There’s a game to play, you know what I’m trying to say? So, that is saying, “Ah, no game time; I want to move” – play! There’s the Shell Helix, it presents [the opportunity].
‘And he did well last year, he played here [at FNB Stadium], he played with Oupa Manyisa and “Pitso” [Mkhulise] in the midfield and did very well.
‘This is a cup game, you know we like cups, so we’ll try and win the cup.’
