The South African Football Association (Safa) is mourning the loss of referee Eketsang Setloboko, who passed away in a car accident on Friday evening.

Setloboko, who has been officiating in the Absa Premiership since 2015, lost his life in a tragic car accident, the organisation confirmed.

The match official was on his way from Mouth Fletcher in the Eastern Cape when the accident occurred, according to Safa.

Setloboko was recently in charge of the Soweto Derby match between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium.

He has also officiated a total of 13 matches this season, including in the PSL, and Telkom Knockout and the MTN8 (including the final between SuperSport United and Cape Town City).
