South African Football Association president Dr Danny Jordaan has congratulated the winners of the 2017/2018 Premier Soccer League Awards.
Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns star Percy Tau was the biggest winner of the night, as he walked away with three awards: Footballer of the Year, Players’ Player of the Season and the top scorer award – shared with Polokwane City’s Rodney Ramagalela.
Jordaan, who recently won his second term as Safa president, acknowledged the number of young players at the award ceremony as well as the Bafana players, who left their Cosafa Cup camp to attend the awards ceremony.
‘Congratulations to all the winners and to those nominated but lost, I would like to say being nominated is great recognition already and you must walk tall,’ he is quoted as saying by Safa’s official website.
‘I am excited at those who left the Cosafa camp to come and attend the ceremony.
‘I hope their success will lift the mood in the team even higher and propel them to do well against their opponent on Sunday.
‘To top it all, these are young players, which means the future for Bafana Bafana is very bright.
‘We are also confident that their performance in the domestic league will rub off in the national team during qualification for the 2019 Afcon tournament,’ he concluded.
