Orlando Pirates midfielder Issa Sarr says his side is not looking back and focusing on the season ahead starting with the Carling Black Label Champion Cup.

The Buccaneers had a disappointing 2016-17 campaign after finishing outside the top eight for the first time since the inception of the in 1996.

The Senegalese midfielder managed to net one goal while making a total of 31 appearances in all competitions.

The 30-year-old says his side are determined to redeem themselves during the new season following their 11th place finish in the PSL and focus on the season ahead.

‘We have to correct what didn’t go good [last season]; we have to correct what went wrong and move forward and fix everything, and forget about the past and focus on the future,’ Sarr told KickOff.com.

Sarr believes Pirates can make a great start to the new campaign, starting with retaining the Carling Black Label Champion Cup trophy.

‘We have to give better results and try to get something this season because Pirates is a big team,’ he added.

‘We always start with Black Label Cup, [and] we will prepare for it. At Pirates, we don’t have friendlies. There are no small games, so we will take the game seriously. We want to win it and we will try to win the game like last year.’

Orlando Pirates are set to take on Kaizer Chiefs in what is expected to be a mouthwatering clash in the  Carling Black Label Champion Cup on 29 July.
