Kaizer Chiefs defender Yagan Sasman relishes the chance to take on Chippa United in the Absa Premiership but will not underestimate them.
The 23-year-old has been in fine form for Amakhosi recently and helped his side keep four clean sheets in his last four league games against AmaZulu, Baroka, Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns.
Sasman insists that he will not take the game against Chippa lightly and stresses the importance of claiming maximum points against the Chili Boys before they take on Orlando Pirates over the weekend.
‘We are taking this game as seriously as any other game,’ said Sasman.
‘We are preparing for it in the same way as we have in our last games against Sundowns and Pirates. We are looking to get as many points as we can before the Fifa international break, because we want to build a lead over the rest of the pack.
‘I think losing to Sundowns will make them more determined to want to get a result against us, but every team when they face Chiefs they want to win, and they treat it as a big fixture. They come out guns blazing, and we will expect nothing less.’
The former Ajax Cape Town defender has urged his side not to get carried away and solely focus on their upcoming encounter with a stubborn Chippa outfit.
‘All season long we have been taking things one game at a time. Right now, Chippa is our focus we are not really thinking beyond that.’
The match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium kicks off at 7:30pm.
