Bloemfontein Celtic caretaker coach Lehlohonolo Seema says they did their homework on Mamelodi Sundowns after snatching a point on Saturday.

Celtic narrowed the Brazilians’ lead at the top of the Absa Premiership standings after holding them to a 0-0 draw at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

‘We did our homework, we knew we had to work very hard and defend better than we did last week. That’s what we have been working on. We knew it was not going to be easy,’ Seema told SuperSport TV after the game.

‘We knew we had to grind and be disciplined. The shape that we had to do, we had to deny them spaces behind our defence and the goalkeeper, and also deny them spaces to play the combinations.

‘We forced them to play wide because once they play wide it is fine, we can deal with the crosses, they are a team that don’t want to play on crosses. We’re happy with a point, a hard-fought point. I don’t know if the guys will have anything left in the tank for Tuesday [versus Orlando Pirates]. We will have to do our homework.’

Seema also provided an update on Wandisile Letlabika, who was stretchered off the field in the first half.

‘Very unfortunate to what happened. They do happen in football. He responded very well, he’s good. He went to the hospital and we’ll hear what the medical team will have to say. But from here in the stadium he was responding well and his eyes were open. We wish him a speedy recovery, surely he’ll be missed. Hopefully he can come back quicker,’ he added.
