Highlands Park striker Peter Shalulile is grateful to have signed for Mamelodi Sundowns, saying he is going to Chloorkop to add value and compete in the Caf Champions League.

According to country-wide media reports, Highlands co-director Brad Kaftel has confirmed that Shalulile and Mothobi Mvala are heading to Mamelodi Sundowns, as the Lions of the North look to sell their top-flight status.

2019-20 Golden Boot award-winner Shalulile told KickOff.com that he has always wanted to play for Sundowns.

“All I can say is I’m grateful to go there,” Shalulile said.

“I’m very happy that I’m going there you know, to add more value, and to learn. I’ve always wanted to play at Sundowns, wanted to play Caf in Africa.

“So they gave me the platform to play in Africa and I’m grateful for that. They’ve been communicating with my manager.”

The Namibian marksman finished the 2019-20 season as joint top-goalscorer alongside Orlando Pirates ace Gabadinho Mhango after netting 16 goals.

“Ja, you have to be grateful for what you get in life sometimes. It’s all about the belief you know, the belief you have in yourself and your ability,” he said.

“If you’ve got that you will definitely do it, you know. It’s the encouragement from the coaches when they say as a striker you always have to be in the box if you want to score goals.

“And that’s definitely what I did, we stayed in the box, waited for the right opportunity and when the opportunity comes you take it from there.”
