Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile says his success in this campaign is down to hard work after breaching the 20-goal mark with his hat-trick against Golden Arrows on Tuesday afternoon.

The Namibian bagged his second consecutive hat-trick in the DStv Premiership following Sundowns’ comfortable 6-0 victory over Arrows at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

Shalulile has now become the first player to break through the elusive 20-goal barrier in the PSL, previously set by Siyabonga Nomvethe during the 2011-12 season.

However, Shalulile now aims to break Collins Mbesuma’s record of 25 league goals achieved in the 2004-05 season during his spell at Kaizer Chiefs.

“I’d like to give glory to God first, my teammates most importantly, the technical team, it was not an easy game, you know,” Shalulile told SuperSport TV after the game.

“Arrows is not an easy team to beat and we gave it an A game and we got the six goals.

“To be honest, my excitement was more on if Zwane scores, he’s my Man of the Match, he gave an assist, he was on his A game.

“To watch how my teammates play, it was really something great to watch, the love, the brotherhood inside here is one thing I love a lot.

“I always tell the people I always want the team to win first, do good first and the rest will follow, hard work will not go wrong, that’s why I keep on scoring goals. To our fans, we really thank you for coming.

“Ja, to be honest records are meant to be broken, they are set by people, we’re all here to break them. It’s possible this year to get what I want to do – to score more goals and win more cups for the team.”
