Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile walked away as the big winner at the 2021 PSL Awards on Sunday evening picking up the two big individual awards, while AmaZulu FC coach, Benni McCarthy, was voted the DStv Premiership Coach of the Season.

The Namibian international won both the PSL Footballer of the Season and DStvPremiership Player’s Player of the Season beating Mamelodi Sundowns teammate Themba Zwane and Maritzburg United’s Thabiso Kutumela for the two awards.

The PSL Footballer of the Season is voted exclusively by the Premier Division coaches while the DStv Premiership Player’s Player of the Season is chosen by players. AmaZulu FC coach, Benni McCarthy, was voted the DStv Premiership Coach of the Season after guiding Usuthu to second place in the DStv Premiership, their highest ever finish in the league.

Baroka FC’s Evidence Makgopa took the DStv Premiership Most Promising Player award while Njabulo Ngcobo (Swallows FC) and Themba Zwane (Mamelodi Sundowns) won the DStv Premiership Defender and DStv Premiership Midfielder of the Season awards respectively. Teboho Mokoena’s strike against Stellenbosch FC on 04 November 2021 was voted as the DStv Premiership Goal of the Season. The Goal of the season finalists (nominees) were voted for by the public on www.psl.co.za throughout the season and the winning goal was decided by a panel of judges made up of football journalists and commentators.

In the MTN8, Orlando Pirates forward Deon Hotto won the MTN8 Last Man Standing award. The Namibian international was instrumental in the Buccaneers’ MTN8 triumph. Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila goalkeeper Washington Arubi won the highly contested Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament award while Richards Bay’s Khanyisa Mayo grabbed the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player category.
