Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas bemoaned the state of the pitch at the Makhulong Stadium which stopped his side from playing their usual game in the 0-0 draw with Highlands Park.

The Glamour Boys were looking to make it four wins in a row but were met by a determine Highlands side who took advantage of their home conditions to earn a point against the Soweto Giants.

Speaking to SuperSport TV after the match Solinas credited his side’s performance but admitted that they struggled to adjust to the conditions and refused to resort to long balls.

‘Good game, both teams played well. We created chances to score but it’s a pity [we didn’t score]. I appreciate the effort from my players.

‘Difficult game to play because of the small field, the grass was not good to play combinations. It was not easy today,’ added the Italian.

‘I don’t like playing a lot of long balls, long throw-ins. It’s a farting game. In the second half we created chances to win the game it’s a pity we didn’t convert these chances. But it’s okay we now focus on the next game.’

Solinas also revealed that his side are not happy with the draw, but will now shift their attention to Saturday’s game against Polokwane City.

‘Kaizer Chiefs always need three points. Kaizer Chiefs plays to win the game so when we draw we are not happy. But it’s okay the league is still long, there are a lot of games to play. So now we focus on the next game, Saturday we have a very important game,’ concluded the Chiefs coach.
