Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas says he isn’t concerned about his future at the club amid a recent string of poor results.
The Italian mentor has endured arguably two of the toughest weeks at the helm of the Naturena outfit. The Amakhosi played to an uninspiring 0-0 draw against Chippa United before being dumped out of the Telkom Knockout by their rivals Orlando Pirates.
Then, a Khama Billiat inspired hat-trick gave Chiefs a 4-0 victory in their Caf Confederation Cup against Zimamoto in their next clash. However, Solinas’ side were dealt a blow in their most recent Absa Premiership clash, succumbing to a 2-1 defeat to Golden Arrows.
When quizzed whether he is feeling the heat in the kitchen, Solinas categorically stated ‘No,’ claiming that he will continue to work hard.
‘I will continue to work hard and I will not give up. We move on Tuesday, we have another game,’ he told the media after the Arrows loss.
Solinas opted start defensive duo Teenage Hadebe and Eric Mathoho at the heart of the defence in place of regulars Mario Booysen and Siyabonga Ngezana, with Hadebe and Mathoho subsequently giving the two penalties away in the loss to Arrows.
Solinas revealed why he went with the Hadebe-Mathoho combination.
‘I don’t want to talk about my defence, we win together and we lose together.
‘We played different combinations, everybody played. We started the league with Mathoho and Daniel Cardoso. After Cardoso, Siyabonga and Booysen.
‘Now we played Teenage Hadebe and Eric Mathoho, so we played everybody,’ he concluded.
