Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas has urged his side to show more determination in the final third.
The Glamour Boys managed to collect all three points after claiming a narrow 1-0 victory over Black Leopards courtesy of a goal from captain Willard Katsande.
Solinas says he is pleased to have kept a clean sheet but felt Amakhosi’s lack of composure in front of goal prevented them from adding to the scoreline.
‘We created a lot of chances. When you’re leading 1-0 [and] you have a chance to kill the game [you should score]. We need more determination in the box. When you’re in the box we need to convert the chances,’ Solinas told SuperSport TV after the game.
‘Today we had a lot of chances but we scored only one goal. So we need to score more.
‘I’m happy [with the clean sheet] because the team showed character. So solid. This is good but we need to score more goals. When we have the opportunity we need to score.’
The Amakhosi mentor admits that Leopards were a difficult side to play in the first half but knew his side would claim the win following their dominant performance in the second half.
‘Kaizer Chiefs plays to win the game. I knew this [was going to be] a difficult game for us,’ he added.
‘In the first half Black Leopards played very well but in the second half, we controlled the game. We had chances to score the second but we need more determination.’
