Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus says he is putting in the “extra work” to prepare for their upcoming Soweto derby clash against Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup this weekend.
The 32-year-old has contributed to seven goals with three goals and four assists in 19 appearances across all competitions for the Buccaneers this season.
Erasmus has also played his role in helping the Buccaneers claim a six-game unbeaten run in the DStv Premiership as they prepare for their semi-final clash against Amakhosi.
The veteran striker has urged his side to maintain their current moments as they are placed second in the league and in the Nedbank Cup semi-final as they continue their hunt for silverware and a place in next year’s continental competition.
“At this point in the season it’s about putting in a bit more extra work to counter that fatigue,” said Erasmus.
“It’s now all about who wants it more. If your desire and passion is there to want to achieve great things with a beautiful club, then you’ll put in the extra work to do so.
“This is a great period for us to be part of as a team. To get to the end of the season with a lot of things to play for – the semi-final of the Nedbank Cup and entrenching our second place on the DStv Premiership log.
“It’s a good position to be in because most other players are already thinking of their holidays, but for us we’re excited about what we can still win.”
