Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has revealed that he could call on the services of striker Thamsanqa Gabuza for the Soweto derby clash against Kaizer Chiefs.
The former Bafana Bafana international has not featured for the Soweto giants since infamously walking off the pitch during a victory over Black Leopards in the Absa Premiership.
Despite Gabuza publicly apologising the next day, the former Golden Arrows man is yet to play for Pirates, intensifying speculation that he is set for an exit from the club.
Sredojevic, however, has revealed that the 31-year-old could play a part against Chiefs due to his know-how in the derby.
‘Gabuza has not gone out of the team because of performance‚’ he told the media.
‘He’s been out of the team because of an extra-ordinary case which we all know.
“He’s in contention for the derby and is one of the players who will try to fight for his place in the team,’ he concluded.
Pirates are yet top find their tried and trusted striking combinations, leaving coach Micho relying on the likes of Augustine Mulenga, Thembinkosi Lorch and Vincent Pule for goals.
Chiefs do duty against Pirates in the biggest clash on the South African football calendar on Saturday at the FNB Stadium with kickoff set for 3:30pm.
