Kaizer Chiefs striker Lazarous Kambole believes he is the man to help the Glamour Boys end their four-year trophy drought ahead of the new season.
The 25-year-old become one of Chiefs’ four new signings after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract following his move from Zambian Premier League outfit Zesco United.
The Zambian international is in Amakhosi’s Carling Black Label Cup XI to face Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium on Saturday after getting 46 103 votes before the final team was announced on Wednesday.
Having been brought in to solve Amakhosi’s goal-scoring problem, Kambole is relishing the chance to repay the club by ending their four-year trophy drought and getting his first taste of the Soweto derby on Saturday.
‘It’s so humbling. It shows the faith the supporters have in me. But of course, how am I am going to pay them back? Of course by winning the cup,’ Kambole told the media.
‘It’s not an easy league. They play fast football and I think I know my attributes and my qualities. So I believe I’m equal to the task.’
Kaizer Chiefs against Orlando Pirates kicks off at 3pm.
