Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has revealed that veteran striker Bernard Parker could return to the squad for their Soweto derby clash with Orlando Pirates.
The Glamour Boys will renew their rivalry with the Buccaneers in the quarter-finals of the Telkom Knockout Cup at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
Parker was included in the squad that secured a 2-0 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in the Absa Premiership at Loftus Versfeld Stadium last Sunday.
However, Middendorp has since said that Parker could be back for selection against Pirates, while Kearyn Baccus and Reeve Frosler are ruled out due to injury.
‘It looks like Bernard Parker could be back for selection; it looks like Reeve Frosler will probably not be available; Kearyn Baccus will definitely not, but we said it immediately after his injury that he will take a time of three weeks [to recover],’ Middendorp told the media.
‘Otherwise, good, we have experienced the substitutions coming in. So far, we are busy preparing players to take over these positions, hopefully with the same performance as we have seen lately.’
Kaizer Chiefs against Orlando Pirates kicks off at 3pm.
