Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro praised Evidence Makgopa following his match-winning goal against Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby encounter played at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The Buccaneers claimed their first win in six Soweto derbies after Makgopa scored his first derby goal.
The win takes Pirates up to seventh place in the DStv Premiership standing with 15 points after 10 matches, while Amakhosi dropped down to ninth place with 14 points from 12 matches.
Riveiro was impressed with the 22-year-old’s performance during his first Soweto derby.
“[He has] amazing numbers in each every game, but we look at him when he is scoring,” Riveiro told SuperSportTV after the game.
“It’s normal, he’s a striker, but he has been doing an excellent job for the team so far.
“I’m so happy for him today because sometimes it’s not easy for our young boys to deal with all you have to deal with when you play for a big club.
“He’s getting experience and this goal is gonna help him a lot for the future.”
