TFG SoccerClub analyses the most anticipated personal duels in the upcoming Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Siyabonga Ngezana vs Augustine Mulenga:

Until the first Soweto derby of the 2018-19 campaign, Ngezana was definitely Chiefs’ most outstanding defender, standing head and shoulders above everybody else with his performances at the heart of defence.

The Zambian attacking duo of Justin Shonga and Mulenga, however, gave Chiefs centre-backs Ngezana and Mario Booysen a torrid time, with the latter’s movement and trickery key to the Bucs’ victory.

The highly rated, no-nonsense youngster will be keen to make amends for his below-par showing in the derby, while Mulenga will look to further exploit the teenagers’ lack of experience.

As seen in Pirates’ victory over Chiefs, an on-song Mulenga is likely to kickstart the Pirates attacking trio of Vincent Pule, Shonga and Mulenga to fire on all cylinders.

If Chiefs are to thwart the danger of Pirates’ three-pronged attack, a lot will rest on how Ngezana deals with Mulenga.
