Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are both reportedly eyeing the signature of Mamelodi Sundowns forward Khama Billiat.
The Zimbabwe international is expected to leave the Brazilians as a free agent at the end of the current campaign after deciding not to extend his contract with the Tshwane giants.
The Amakhosi and the Buccaneers will have to fight off competition from the likes of Wits while there is also interest from Europe in the form of Qarabag of Azerbaijan and Swedish side Djurgadens.
Billiat’s agent Michael Ngobeni has calmed transfer talks for the time being as the 27-year-old wants to remain focused on his last games as a Sundowns player.
‘Everyone wants him and the whole world knows he’s going to be free [on 30 June], everyone has to wait until he finishes the season,’ Ngobeni told Sunday World.
The M-Sport Management director confirmed that local and foreign clubs are keen to sign Billiat but gave no indication to his preference.
‘Khama still has a contract with the club even though he’s going to be free, so there’s no reason why we should rush,’ he concluded.
