Stellenbosch FC managed to do the double over Kaizer Chiefs after claiming a 1-0 victory at the Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday evening.
Amakhosi got off to a bright start and nearly took the lead in the 12th minute when Nkosingiphile Ngcobo saw his header sail over the bar.
Stellies, however, got in front in the 20th minute through Deano van Rooyen after a quick counter to make it 1-0.
Khama Billiat should’ve levelled matters in the 42nd minute but his long-range effort sailed inches wide of target before the half-time break.
Stellies piled the pressure on Amakhosi early in the second half as Judas Moseamedi forced a save out of Brandon Petersen.
Amakhosi opted to make their first substitution as Mphahlele was taken off and replaced by Baccus before bringing on Frosler and Zuma in place of Mashiane and Radebe in the 64th minute.
Chiefs made another double substitution in the 74th minute as Sekgota and Mshini came on to replace Castro and Dolly.
Zuma had a chance to level matters in the 80th minute but saw his effort saved by the Stellies keeper.
However, Stellies managed to hold on to their lead until the final whistle as the game ended 1-0 in favour of the home side.
