Stellenbosch FC has fended off competition from Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs to sign Zambian midfielder Nathan Sinkala from TP Mazembe.
Sundowns and Chiefs were reportedly showing interest in the midfielder, but he opted to join Stellies on a 17-month contract to have him remaining at the club until June 2021.
The Zambia international’s contract at the TP Mazembe was not renewed and he was free to join Stellenbosch as a free agent.

‘At the end of his contract, Nathan Sinkala will not have his lease renewed,’ read a statement on TP Mazembe’s official Twitter account.
‘At the club since 2012, the Zambian midfielder was – for a moment – transferred to FC Sochaux in France then loaned to the Swiss of the Zurich Grasshoppers between 2014 and 2015 before returning to Lubumbashi.
‘TPM wishes Nathan Sinkala a great success for the rest of his career and will have fond memories of the Zambian midfielder.’
