The Premier Soccer League has revealed that the disciplinary case involving Mamelodi Sundowns and defender Wayne Arendse is ready to move forward after all parties made written submissions to the disciplinary committee.

Downs were found were found guilty of fielding the ineligible Arendse when they played Bidvest Wits in an Absa Premiership match at the beginning of the season.

Arendse was not originally named in the match day squad which was submitted to the match commissioner, but he was brought on as a substitute in the encounter, contravening PSL regulations.

Much has been made about the length of time that it has taken the league to hand out their punishment, with Pitso Mosimane in particular vocal in the press about the issue.

The PSL disciplinary committee were due to sentence Sundowns a fortnight ago, but it was postponed due to Masandawana’s exploits in the Caf Champions League and their subsequent travels.

PSL communications manager Lux September confirmed on Wednesday that all parties have made written submissions to the disciplinary committee due to the urgency of the matter, instead of the usual oral submissions.

‘The last time we spoke, we did indicate that there was a postponement request from Mamelodi Sundowns, which was granted by the DC. The latest on the matter is that all the parties, the PSL with our prosecutor Nande Becker, Mamelodi Sundowns and also Wayne Arendse, have since made written submissions to the disciplinary committee. This is in view of the urgency to finalise the matter,’ September said this morning.

‘So basically all parties have agreed to file this affidavit, summarising the evidence, which normally would be tendered orally to the disciplinary committee. The DC has received this and we are currently awaiting the DC’s decision with regards to the sanction. So there will be no sitting, which basically means the process will be hopefully finalised in due course.’
