Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the signing of Lebohang Maboe from Maritzburg United, writes DEAN WORKMAN.
The 23-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season at the Team of Choice last campaign as he helped lead the side from Pietermaritzburg to their highest-ever league finish and their first-ever cup final after they beat Sundowns to book a spot in the Nedbank Cup final.

Maboe and United may have gone on to lose to Free State Stars but the young attacking midfielder was still named the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament, and also walked away with the Most Promising Player of the Tournament award at the PSL awards.

Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has reportedly been keen on bringing Maboe to Chloorkop for some time as he believes that the player could help fill the void left by the departure of Percy Tau – who went to English Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion – and Khama Billiat, who joined rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
Although Fadlu Davids was promised that he would not lose any of his players to an Absa Premiership rival, Sundowns reportedly offered Maritzburg a deal they could not turn down.
Maboe played 38 times across all competitions for Davids’ team, scoring five goals while also providing seven assists in the 2017-18 season.
