Mamelodi Sundowns made it five wins from six in the DStv Premiership with a 3-0 win over Swallows FC at Loftus Versfeld on Sunday evening.
The Brazilians came into the game looking to continue their winning momentum heading into the international break and faced a Swallows side who were still without coach Brandon Truter, who is on special leave.
Downs started the game on the front foot with hitman Peter Shalulile had an opening with just two minutes, but he couldn’t beat Sanele Tshabala who pulled off a smart save from close range.
Swallows, however, were not going to just sit back as Makgalwa forced Onyango into a top save.
The home side were looking to up the tempo as the half wore on, but they were also proving a threat from set plays as Pavol Safranko went close from a corner before Kutumela hit the post as Swallows survived a double scare.
That set play threat eventually paid off just before the break as Safranko got on the end of a Lyle Lakay corner to leave the goalkeeper with no chance of saving his powerful header.
Masandawana started the second half well with Safranko going close with the head again but this time it flew inches wide.
Downs, however, managed to make things more comofotable in the 75th minute as substitute Neo Maema linked up with Sibusiso Vilakazi before finishing with composure.
The hosts wrapped things up in the 89th minute when Peter Shalulile produced a superb diving header from Maema’s cross for Downs’ third.
