Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has opened up on Tokelo Rantie’s short spell at Chloorkop, saying the club will not tolerate ill-disciplined players.
The Brazilians cancelled the forward’s contract on Sunday after he failed to turn up at training for a whole month, joining the list of clubs which have failed to control the former Bournemouth striker.
Rantie was given a lifeline by Mosimane and Downs with a short-term contract after he looked to have overcome the issues which had him released from his contract at Cape Town City.
The forward, though, then went awol and after missing training for over a month saw his time at Downs come to an end.
Speaking after his side’s 3-0 win over AmaZulu on Saturday, Mosimane admitted that although he could have used the player, he can’t tolerate his behaviour.
‘No, Tokelo Rantie‚ it’s discipline issues, man‚’ said Mosimane.
‘At Sundowns we don’t tolerate those.
‘You know, we’ve taken a lot of players out. You must come to training‚ neh?
‘If training starts to disturb your life then you must be doing some other things than training. So you have to come to training‚ it’s important, neh?
‘But we can’t tolerate that kind of discipline. He’s a good player‚ good boy and I like him.
‘I thought a game like this [against AmaZulu] he could come on as a substitute like we’re bringing in Aubrey Mngoma.
‘But yah‚ he’s not there. I haven’t seen him at training. It’s sad. It’s very sad. It’s very sad that we haven’t seen him,’ concluded Mosimane.
