Jeremy Brockie then restored SuperSports’ lead in the 58th minute after his volleyed effort found the back of the net from a tight angle to make it 2-1.
At the other end, City drew level for the second time in the match five minutes later when Vusimuzi Mngomezulu found the back of the net.
United then took the lead for the third time in the 77th minute as Thuso Phala latched on to a cross from Mandla Masango before firing his effort home from inside the box.
