Percy Tau picked up the Man of the Match award in Mamelodi Sundowns’ 1-0 victory against Maritzburg United and acknowledged the efforts of the entire team.
The Bafana Bafana international scored his fifth goal of the campaign to ensure Masandawana extended their unbeaten run to six consecutive games.
The result sees Sundowns sit at the summit of the league table with a five point advantage and Tau revealed his delight after downing a stubborn Maritzburg outfit.
‘Thank you so much. I think we fought very hard. It wasn’t an easy game but we did our work. We’re happy we got the results,’ he said in post-match comments.
‘They are playing a system that is very difficult to defend [against] but we knew when to attack and when to defend which is something good.
‘We did our analysis very well, credit to the coach and the guys. We did really well.
‘I think it’s always good to win our catch-up games. Last season we didn’t do that, so we’re happy that this season we’re doing that. Masandawana are happy today,’ he concluded.
Sundowns’ last league fixture of the year sees them face Cape Town City on 20 December at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
