The Brazilians broke the deadlock through a goal by midfielder Themba Zwane, with Sphamandla Milo’s 11th-minute opener cancelled out. Then Khama Billiat sealed the victory with his 83rd-minute strike.
The 22-year-old says he was delighted to collect all three points, but has stressed the importance of staying grounded ahead of their next match against Bidvest Wits on Saturday.
‘We got another opportunity to try and win and we did that. It was important for us to come here and win and take the three points, because we are playing catch-up. It is good that we still stay focused and respect the league,’ Tau said after the match.
‘Personally, I don’t think I did well in the first-half. I got a few chances that I should have scored. It’s part of the game. I’m still learning. It’s part of the process. I hope the coach and my team accept that I’m still learning.’
The Bafana Bafana midfielder believes his side lacked the clinical finishing in the final third, after dominating possession in the first half.
‘We should have scored more goals in the first half, but it’s part of the game. Some games we are clinical in the first half and some we are not. Credit to the team,’ he added.
Pitso Mosimane’s side currently sits fourth in the Absa Premiership standing with 29 points, having won nine out of 13 matches played so far this season.
Mamelodi Sundowns will next welcome Bidvest Wits to the Loftus Versfeld Stadium when the two sides meet in what is expected to be a mouthwatering Absa Premiership encounter.
Kick-off has been set for 18:00.
