Kaizer Chiefs defender-cum-midfielder Joseph Molangoane is confident of his side’s chances of winning both the Absa Premiership title as well as the Nedbank Cup.
The Soweto giants are seven points adrift of log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and have been drawn to face First Division outfit Stellenbosch FC in the Nedbank Cup last 16 after sweeping aside Golden Arrows 3-0.
Molangoane believes his side have enough quality to compete as frontrunners in both competitions.
‘We have quality in the team to get both. I don’t see anything stopping us. We can go there and fight, but what matters is each game as it comes,’ he told the media at the draw.
‘If we win our remaining 10 games in the league and the four left in the Nedbank Cup, then we have a chance.
‘I am happy with the draw, but you know it’s a difficult one. We played Stellenbosch last season and it was difficult, but we managed to get a victory.
‘Now things have changed and we don’t know what’s happening there. It’s difficult, but we need to soldier on and you know we need a trophy.
‘The technical team and players know how important it is. We won against Arrows and now we need to come up with a plan for Stellenbosch. We have to fight,’ he concluded.
Before thinking about the cup game, Chiefs will have to make sure they collect maximum points against Cape Town City in a league match at FNB Stadium on Saturday night with kickoff set for 20:15.
