Siphiwe Tshabalala says Kaizer Chiefs have to accept the disappointment of exiting both cup competitions at an early stage this season.
Chiefs bowed out of the 2016 TKO after a 6-5 penalty-shootout defeat to Free State Stars on Sunday at Moses Mabhida Stadium. This follows their first-round exit in the MTN8 back in August after failing to see off PSL newcomers Cape Town City.
‘It’s disappointing that we lost in that way after such hard work. We tried to play and create chances, but at the end of the day we lost through the lottery of penalties,’ Tshabalala wrote on his official website.
‘Yes, it is the second competition we have exited.
‘It is not easy but we have to accept and move on. Sometimes luck plays a big part in football and recently it has not been on our side.
‘Hopefully, though, going forward we can do better as a team and the rewards will come.’
The Soweto giants face a trip to Mamelodi Sundowns when the PSL resumes after the international break on 19 November.
