Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Sibusiso Vilakazi insists that ‘playing as a team’ is more important than chasing his own objectives in terms of goal-scoring.
The Brazilians currently sit in second place in the Absa Premiership standings with 44 points from 21 games, trailing log leaders Kaizer Chiefs by four points.
However, the 2019-20 campaign and all football in the country were suspended due to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in South Africa.
Themba Zwane is currently Sundowns’ top-scorer with 12 goals in all competitions, while Vilakazi sits on 10 goals and 11 assists with nine games remaining this season.
The former Bidvest Wits midfielder insists he is more concerned about the team’s success rather than individual accolades.
‘It doesn’t matter who scores, as long as the team is winning. We always have that brotherhood,’ Vilakazi told his club’s official website.
‘You must just play your part in the team, contribute as much as you can. Whoever is in a good position to score, you pass to him because it’s all about sharing.’
