Virgil Vries, who will battle it out with Itumeleng Khune for the No 1 jersey, says he wants to be remembered for helping Kaizer Chiefs reclaim their glory days.
The 29-year-old completed a move to the Soweto giants after being released by Baroka, while Chiefs’ previous second-in-command Brilliant Khuzwayo completing a move to arch-rivals Orlando Pirates.

The shot-stopper spoke to the club’s official website and urged the Amakhosi supporters to come out in their numbers as Chiefs look to put an end to their dismal trophyless spell.
‘I want to be part of a squad that will bring back the glory days,’ he said.
‘One day in the future, I want to sit in a chair and reflect, “That’s what we achieved.” I want to be remembered as being part of a great Amakhosi squad.

‘We will work hard and put a smile on your face. We know that the three years of trophy drought was not easy.
‘Please come out in your numbers to support us. We will make you happy, it’s going to be a good season,’ he concluded.
