Watch as Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp and Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy speak to the media after Chiefs’ 2-1 over City at Newlands on Tuesday evening.

Benni McCarthy’s men started the game on the front foot and got an early lead when Kermit Erasmus fired home past Daniel Akpeyi with just four minutes gone.

City went on to enjoy the lion’s share of chances in the first stanza, but they weren’t able to add to their lead which would come back to haunt them.

Middendorp made a tactical switch at the break by bringing of Keary Baccus for Lazourous Kambole, which changed the dynamic of the game. Chiefs were on top and eventually equalised through Daniel Cardoso, who rose highest from a set play to head home in the 75th minute before Kearyn Baccus sealed all three points in the 80th minute for the Soweto giants.

Post-game McCarthy lamented the loss as he felt his side were on top in the first half but his midfield went missing in the second stanza.
