Mamelodi Sundowns were in full jubilation after they were crowned African Football League champions following their victory over Wydad Casablanca.
The Brazilians suffered a 2-1 defeat to Wydad in the first leg through an own goal by Rivaldo Coetzee and a goal from Anas Serrhat, who cancelled out Abdelmounaim Boutouil’s penalty at the Stade Mohammed V in the first leg on Sunday, November 5.
However, Sundowns fought back in the second leg to secure a 2-0 victory at Loftus Versfeld Stadium thanks to goals from Peter Shalulile and Aubrey Modiba on Sunday.
As a result, Rulani Mokwena’s side walked away with the inaugural African Football League trophy.
