Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter believes his team have improved in every single department after their win over Maritzburg United, adding they can start making some noise heading into Wednesday’s clash with AmaZulu.
The Glamour Boys may have endured a difficult start to the season, but managed to pick up 12 points out of a possible 15 in recent weeks. This spell moved them up the table to close the gap on Mamelodi Sundowns at the top to eight points.
This past Sunday’s win over Maritzburg proved a further boost for Amakhosi, with Baxter insisting his team is improving in every department.
“Everything that we spoke about we did better. We are not playing that sort of champagne football. It was a game that we did a very good job on,” said Baxter.
“Fifa breaks are always difficult because it would have been very easy tonight after we came off a win against Pirates and you pat yourself on the back. But then we had a long break. Then we had the lights going off before the game which causes delays and brings mental issues. I’m delighted that we can go into the next game and can start making a bit of noise.
“I think the organisation, the pressing, the shape, the intentions to set plays, that was as good as we have seen. I would like to adapt our passing and our play in the final third to see what we have seen before.”
