Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona sealed a move to Belgian club KAS Eupen last week, which had Pitso Mosimane’s Mamelodi Sundowns team missing out on his services.
The Zimbabwe striker was a known target of the Brazilians with Mosimane making his interest known earlier in the transfer window.
He, however, sealed a move to the Belgian Pro League side on loan from Anderlecht until the end of the season.
Speaking on the club’s failed attempt to bring in the former Chiefs man, Mosimane admitted that he couldn’t match the offer from Eupen, who are backed by money from Qatar.
‘I can confirm we wanted Musona but he decided to go for the Eupen programme in Qatar. We could not match the Qatar money,’ Mosimane revealed.
‘But it’s OK. We hope Mauricio [Affonso] comes back. [Jose] Ali Meza has recovered.’
The forward already looks to have hit the ground running at his new team. Eupen coach Benat San Jose has sung his praises after Musona took just 10 minutes into his Eupen debut to get off the mark, scoring the equaliser after his team went behind early in a 1-1 draw with Charleroi on Saturday.
‘Knowledge Musona has integrated very well into the team. He is a player who offers us additional opportunities in attack,’ San Jose said last week at the player’s unveiling.
‘He can score goals himself, but he can also support his teammates with good passes,’ he concluded.
