SuperSport United goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has revealed his desire to don the captain’s armband when Dean Furman part ways with the club at the end of the season.

Furman has recently announced that he will leave the Tshwane side at the end of this season after spending five seasons at the club.

Williams will be on of the prime candidates to take over the captaincy from Furman as he is the club’s longest-serving player, having arrived at the club at 12-year-old.

The Port Elizabeth-born shot-stopper has already managed to feature 19 time for Matasatasa this season, while keeping nine clean sheets across all competitions.

‘I’ve spent all my life at this club. I know the ins and out, including everyone. It would be an amazing personal achievement for me,’ Williams told the media.

‘There’s a lot of experience in the team, but if the responsibility is given to me then I’ll gladly accept it. It’s something that I would look forward to and treasure.’

SuperSport United will now turn their attention to their upcoming Absa Premiership clash against Highlands Park at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday with kick-off set for 8pm.
