Orlando Pirates playmaker Dove Wome is confident that he can continue his goal scoring run in the Soweto derby this weekend.

Wome, who was signed from SuperSport United in the January transfer window, already has two goals for his new club and is confident of finding the back of the net more regularly this season.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder attributed his recent goal scoring run to his new teammates.

‘Scoring goals is something I’m used to, but I have to seriously credit the team. You know, if you want to score a goal it is up to your team mates. So credit must go to them,’ Wome told The Sowetan.

The Togolese international, who recently received his South African Permanent Residence permit which means he can be registered as a local player, hopes to add to his goal tally in the derby.

‘I hope I can keep scoring and obviously, there is a big game coming (against Chiefs on Saturday). I’m not promising anything but you know team work is important,’ he said.

The midfielder who missed out on selection for Togo’s AFCON squad, admitted that it has been a tough season for him.

‘It has been difficult for me this season. I had an operation and was out for two months. When I came back the team (SuperSport) was already doing well so it was difficult for the coach to change,’ he explained.

The 25 year old took the opportunity to move to another club and is happy to finally get some minutes on the field of play.

‘I got a chance to move and show what I can do. It was difficult at first but now I’m getting game time I’m happy for now.’ Wome concluded.

The Buccaneers take on rivals Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Kick-off is scheduled for 15:30.
