Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane has denied that he has been receiving phone calls from a potential suitor.
This is despite comments from the former Bafana Bafana coach after a 2-1 victory over Baroka FC on Sunday, where he said that a coach from a big club has been calling Zwane in an attempt to lure him away from Chloorkop.
Mosimane said: ‘There’s a coach of a big club busy calling Themba Zwane, I won’t say who it is but it’s not Steve.’
‘If I did the same there would be complaints. The coach is from one of the biggest teams and Themba says he’s calling and calling. I know the coach, he’s very close to me but I will protect him.’
The 28-year-old, however, says he does not remember having a conversation with Mosimane about this.
‘You know to be honest I don’t remember saying that to him [Mosimane],’ the midfielder told the media at the club’s headquarters in Chloorkop.
‘I don’t know what it is happening, I don’t know what is going on.
Asked directly if there is a coach who has been calling him, Zwane said: ‘No’.
